LET’S TALK!

We may not agree on every issue, and that’s okay. Kansans deserve a wide range of representation and follow-through with action. I don’t make promises, but I do guarantee across-the-aisle efforts for sensible legislation.

  • Wyandotte County is not a heavy agricultural producer, but we still have Ag roots as the, “Bread Basket” state. I support Kansas farms, ranchers, and public access to locally produced food sources.

It’s critical that the USDA fund our State Department of Agriculture for state and local farmers. Programs that support local efforts have been massively negatively impacted. I would support our neighbors and work with State and Federal legislators to ensure proper funding.

  • Our education is the foundation of Kansans quality of life, our future workforce and its leadership. Ensuring our state continues to fully fund public education is important to students post-graduation. Are we creating environments for our students to thrive? The tools we give them determine their projected success, community impact, and positive environments.

Special Education must be fully funded. Some of our most vulnerable community members have special needs and deserve advocates in legislation. Their access is important to growth and quality of life.

  • Infrastructure in Wyandotte County is past due on investments. With the continued growth of the Western County, long-term planning is a must. Recently, many neglected bridge projects have negatively impacted communities and small businesses.

Currently, the State Avenue corridor & K7 should be at the top of the priority list at the State level, with KDOT. Planning and subsequent funding are crucial to managing the economic investments planned. As a State Representative, I will work to ensure our communities are at the table and a part of the conversation.

  • Property tax is a complicated matter. However, one issue I would like to champion is property tax relief for seniors, 65+. The Kansas Department of Revenue has a program for low-income seniors. I would advocate expanding the limits by a reasonable amount to account for inflation and property tax evaluations.

Let’s keep seniors in their homes!

  • As someone who works multiple jobs, I understand that every dollar counts. Prescription drugs aren’t taxed. Similar healthcare products, like over-the-counter medicine and feminine products, should be treated as such.

Similar to the removal of sales tax on groceries, necessities shouldn’t be taxed. It may seem minuscule, but it takes away from hard-earned dollars.

  • Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities. They support the economy and provide necessary employment for our friends and family. I fully support opportunities to grow our local workforce. Encouraging Kansans to build their careers and work in the small business community is important.

As a Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, I see the challenges business owners face in retaining labor, navigating inflation on commodities and products, and I look for ways to support new business owners. I will champion and defend our entrepreneurs in the Legislature.

  • I fully support the rights of ALL Kansans. Equity, equality and justice for all, not some, is a foundation of my core beliefs.

    • Accessible paths to citizenship

    • Healthcare expansion

    • Housing initiatives

    • Women’s access to healthcare + the right to choose

    • LGBTQ+ protections
